Who Am I
?I am Karl Baxter, an editorial and fashion photographer of disrepute and poor standing. A man of few morals and less talent.
Where Am I
?Shall I say something cheesey like.. “wherever you want me to be“. I’m in Birmingham & London, but never at the same time.
I mostly shoot for submissions, I always shoot for fun. This isn’t a job, it’s a thing. By a thing, I mean this is what I do to get my rocks off.. it isn’t just about putting a roof over my head.
I do undertake commercial commissions.. it seems like its a near daily basis these days, but it’s no bad thing. I test frequently, submit often and work with a great team of experienced, straight forward and interesting people. You can’t be inspired unless you surround yourself with inspiring people – my team are wonderfully creative and engaging and are great to be around.
Testing: The “Rules”
Fabulous.. then contact me. I’m a happy guy and easy to communicate with. I have rules like most people, but they’re easy to follow and simple to understand.
I will only test or trade with excellent models from recognised agencies, or the occasional exceptional independent. My definition of exceptional independent is thus: You’re good enough for a major, but you’re an inch or two too short.. it doesn’t extend to you’re willing to blow for tears but nobody will take you. My work doesn’t really suit shrinking violets, the inexperienced or the body conscious.. if you’re one or more of those things, then I’m not your go to guy, for love, or for money.
I don’t ‘collaborate’, i direct, or i work under instruction. I’m not here to muddy the water with some bullshit something for everyone wasted day. Sorry.
I do undertake commercial commissions, portfolio development and campaign work, through from pre-production planning and art direction all the way to media planning and deployment. I run an advertising agency in Birmingham City Centre and deliver complex commissions for large scale enterprises, as well as lots of fun and inexpensive private client stuff. isMy passion and it’s what I do when I see someone I’d love to work with who isn’t necessarily of fashion stats. If you’re brave, creative and like to work 1-1, or with the smallest of teams, then again, please contact me.
I am published across the world in print and online and my photographic and design work has been featured in joint and solo exhibitions all over the UK. I’m currently based in Stourbridge, near Birmingham with my wife and children, but I work nationwide. I’m in London on a weekly basis and test and shoot in the capital regularly. My midlands studio is well located for motorway and rail connections.
